Rulers of La Langue

An Ode to a Slogan

“Feeling good is a philosophy”

Oh? Is that what it is?

Well, the ad says so, so I guess I’ll call it quits

and join your mobile network, oh rulers of la langue, teachers of wise secrets, gurus of capital

How you have raised up the populace with your kind patronage

and made for us connections at a price we can afford!

How kindly place you your slogans where we cannot miss:

(In a public jacks where once I pissed, the urinal spake thus: 50% off when you change networks to us!)

Yes, you have it sussed

in our face, your name, your sound, your pics

we cannot but be aware of your brand mix

your light is in the ether, you are written in the dust

your atoms dance salsa in pixels tossed

we must

acknowledge your pervasiveness, your ability to entrust

our petty minds with the brilliance of your efforts to sell us stuff

And here you’ve outdone yourself, oh marketing exec

channeling through the ages the wisdom of Hume, Kant, Descartes and the rest

But now that you’ve shone your enlightenment on this postmodern scene

I am left with just one question:

“Feeling good is a philosophy”?

What the fuck does that mean?
